Cold Rooms & PUF Panels
Cold Rooms & PUF Panels

THE INFINITE POSSIBILITIES OF COLD ROOMS
Designed From the Ground Up to meet Your Temperature, Humidity & Application Requirements
Greenbox offers highly customised cold rooms and environmental chambers, with every chamber designed from the ground up around the customer’s specific application.
Rather than offering a fixed set of standard specifications, Greenbox allows the construction, insulation, temperature range, humidity, refrigeration capacity, heating capacity, airflow and control characteristics to be selected according to the process requirements.
CUSTOMISED CONSTRUCTION
Each chamber is engineered by selecting the appropriate internal and external cladding material and thickness.
Available options include:
-
- PPGI
- Stainless Steel
- Plastisol-coated steel
- GI-coated steel
Cladding thicknesses can be selected from approximately 0.4 mm to 2 mm, depending on the required strength, durability, corrosion resistance, hygiene and application.
INSULATION FOR EVERY APPLICATION
Greenbox offers multiple insulation technologies, allowing the insulation system to be selected according to the required temperature range, thermal performance, fire characteristics, structural requirements and budget.
Available options include:
- Rigid PU/PUR
- PIR
- QuadCore
- Rockwool
Insulation thickness can be customised from approximately 20 mm to 200 mm, allowing the chamber to be optimised for applications ranging from conventional cold storage to demanding low-temperature and ultra-low-temperature environments.
TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY CONTROL
Greenbox chambers can be engineered for an exceptionally wide range of environmental conditions, with chamber temperatures from approximately:
+120°C to -80°C
Humidity can also be controlled over a very wide range, with relative humidity capability from approximately:
5% RH to 95% RH
The achievable combination of temperature and RH is engineered according to the specific application and chamber design.
ENGINEERED FOR THE REQUIRED RAMP RATE
Cooling and heating capacity are not simply selected according to the final chamber temperature.
Greenbox can size the refrigeration and heating systems according to the required pull-down, heat-up and recovery characteristics.
Depending on the application, systems can be designed for:
- Slow, highly stable temperature transitions
- Rapid pull-down and heat-up
- High-capacity continuous operation
- Low-duty operation where the refrigeration/heating system operates for only a small percentage of the cycle
- Precisely controlled temperature ramps
Depending on the application, ramp rates can be engineered from approximately 0.1°C per hour to as high as 10°C per minute.
This means the chamber can be designed not merely to reach a temperature, but to follow a specific temperature-versus-time profile.
FROM FOOD PRESERVATION TO ADVANCED R&D
The possibilities are almost limitless.
FOOD STORAGE & FOOD PROCESSING
Greenbox chambers can be configured for applications such as:
- Food storage
- Food preservation
- Controlled-temperature processing
- Curd incubation
- Fermentation
- Temporary warm holding followed by rapid cooling
For example, a curd incubation chamber can maintain the required warm temperature during incubation and subsequently provide rapid cooling to storage temperature, all within the same chamber.
SEED STORAGE & SEED BANKS
Greenbox can engineer chambers to maintain low-temperature and ultra-low-humidity for long-term seed storage, where maintaining controlled environmental conditions over very long periods is critical to preserving seed viability.
Such systems can be configured for applications where seeds need to remain viable for decades, with precise temperature and humidity control.
PLANT GROWTH CHAMBERS
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Greenbox chambers can be configured as warm, high-humidity, high-lumen plant growth chambers, with controlled:
- Temperature
- Relative humidity
- Lighting intensity
- Lighting configuration
- Environmental conditions
This allows the chamber to replicate controlled growing environments for research and development.
HIGH-SPEED THERMAL CYCLING
For applications such as drone, electronics and component testing, Greenbox can engineer high-speed thermal cycling chambers capable of moving rapidly between extreme conditions.
Example operating range:
-40°C to +60°C
The refrigeration and heating systems can be sized to achieve the required thermal cycling ramp rate of as high as 10°C per min while pulling down the temp. and as high as 20°C per min. while heating the chamber rather than simply maintaining a fixed temperature.
MATERIAL STORAGE FOR AEROSPACE & ADVANCED MATERIALS
Specialised materials such as prepregs and temperature-sensitive aerospace materials such as various grades of Aluminium while processing can require controlled low-temperature storage.
Greenbox can design chambers around the specific storage temperature, humidity, capacity and recovery requirements of these materials.
HIGH-PRECISION STABILITY CHAMBERS
For pharmaceutical and life-science applications, Greenbox can build high-stability temperature and humidity chambers designed to maintain environmental conditions within a very narrow band for extended periods.
Such chambers can be configured for applications requiring compliance with relevant ICH stability-testing requirements and applicable regulatory guidelines, including environments used to establish the stability of medicines and pharmaceutical products over time.
The emphasis is not simply on achieving a target temperature and RH, but on maintaining them accurately and consistently over long periods.
ONE PLATFORM. ALMOST UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES.
From a simple food-storage cold room to an ultra-low-temperature chamber, from a seed bank to a plant-growth chamber, from a fermentation chamber to a high-speed thermal-cycling system, Greenbox approaches every project as a custom environmental-control engineering problem.
YOU DEFINE THE ENVIRONMENT.
GREENBOX ENGINEERS THE CHAMBER.
Temperature. Humidity. Ramp Rate. Insulation. Materials. Airflow. Lighting. Controls.
Every parameter can be engineered around the application.
